Jualan MADANI KUSKOP To Widen Reach Across Sabah Rural Areas
TAWAU, July 26 (Bernama) -- The Jualan MADANI KUSKOP programme will be expanded to more rural and village areas in Sabah to ensure wider access to essential goods at affordable prices.
Deputy Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin said the initiative would bring affordable goods closer to local communities, enabling them to enjoy special promotions, including ‘happy hour’ discounts of up to 30 per cent.
“This involves a substantial amount of subsidies. To date, about RM241,000 in subsidies has been channelled to Sabah through the programme.
“As for total sales, about RM347,000 was recorded between January and June,” he said when met by reporters at the 27th Jualan MADANI KUSKOP programme at the Sabindo Weekly Market compound here today.
The programme, a joint effort between the Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Ministry (KUSKOP) and the Malaysia Co-operative Societies Commission (SKM), aims to help ease the people's cost-of-living burden while enhancing the role of cooperatives in driving local economic growth.
Since its introduction in 2019, the programme has created opportunities for cooperatives to grow their businesses, widen market reach and increase income through their involvement as sales operators.
Mohamad said the ministry would identify more suitable districts for the programme’s implementation, which will continue until the end of this year, including through collaboration with relevant ministries to ensure more people could benefit from it.
“This programme has brought benefits to the community. In 2025, a total of 235,195 visitors enjoyed savings through the Jualan MADANI KUSKOP Programme held nationwide.
“The programme also recorded sales of over RM8 million during the same period, reflecting its positive impact on the community and the important role played by cooperatives as strategic partners of the government in supporting economic development and community well-being,” he said.
