Queen Grants Audience To Johor Mufti, National Archives DG

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 26 (Bernama) -- Her Majesty, Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia granted an audience to the Mufti of Johor Datuk Yahya Ahmad and the director-general of the National Archives of Malaysia Zaidin Mohd Noor at Istana Negara today.

According to a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's Facebook, Her Majesty was informed about the planning of the Majlis Pengkisahan Sejarah Institusi Mufti Negeri Johor and the Launch of the Bibliography Book of the Muftis of Johor.

"It is to expose the community to the history and role of Islamic religious institutions in the state of Johor as well as to unravel the thinking styles, contributions and achievements of the Muftis of Johor," the post said.

According to the post, Yahya also presented to Her Majesty, the progress of the construction of the Tunku Laksamana Abdul Jalil Mosque in Johor Baharu, which will be infused with Central Asian Islamic architecture inspired by Uzbek art.

On March 5,  His Majesty, Sultan Ibrahim. King of Malaysia consented to the presentation of the latest briefing on the construction progress report of Tunku Laksamana Abdul Jalil Mosque.

The mosque was built with money left by the son of His Majesty, the late Tunku Abdul Jalil Sultan Ibrahim, who passed away on Dec 5, 2015.

The mosque, located on Jalan Kolam Air near Istana Bukit Serene, can accommodate almost 1,000 congregants at a time.
