N.9 Polls: Indian Community’s Response To Ph Programmes Reflects Support - Ramanan

SEREMBAN, July 28 (Bernama) -- The Indian community’s reception towards Pakatan Harapan (PH) programmes is a key indicator of the coalition’s support base ahead of the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election, according to PKR vice-president Datuk Seri R. Ramanan.

He said claims by Barisan Nasional (BN) component party MIC that Indian voters are more inclined to support BN should be assessed based on the community’s actual response to the programmes organised.

"Anyone can make such claims, but the turnout and response at the programmes suggest otherwise.

"Whether the Indian community supports us can be seen from the response to the programmes we organise," he told reporters here today.

The Human Resources Minister said a meeting between the Indian community and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will take place tomorrow, allowing all parties to see the level of public acceptance and support for the government’s leadership directly.

Ramanan, who is also Sungai Buloh MP, said predictions on election outcomes by political analysts or the views of certain parties do not necessarily reflect the actual results on polling day, adding that accurate forecasts in the Johor state election did not guarantee similar results in the Negeri Sembilan state polls, as political dynamics differ from one state to another.

"We know Johor was a difficult battleground, but Negeri Sembilan has its own political dynamics," he said, commenting on an analysis by Taylor’s University Adjunct Professor Dr Ong Kian Ming, who reportedly expects BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN) to secure victories in the Negeri Sembilan state election.

A total of 867,151 voters are eligible to cast their votes in the Negeri Sembilan state election this Saturday.
