Second-half Adjustments Key To Home Win - Sabah FC Head Coach

Sabah FC head coach Juan Torres Garrido

KOTA KINABALU, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- Sabah FC head coach Juan Torres Garrido expressed satisfaction with his team's performance after securing a 3-1 victory over Star City FC in their home opener at Likas Stadium last night.

Garrido said his tactical adjustments in the second half minimised set-piece threats from the opposition, allowing the host team to gain better control of the match.

"We are happy because we achieved what we wanted, getting three points and having a good game at home. We hope that this win will attract more supporters to Likas Stadium in upcoming fixtures," he told reporters last night.

He acknowledged that Star City posed early danger during set-piece situations, but commended his squad of new players for adapting quickly after conceding the equaliser.

Star City head coach Mehmet Durakovic described the defeat as tough to accept, citing a drop in concentration during the final 10 minutes of play.

"We have to concentrate for 90 minutes instead of 80 minutes. We will fix this, and we will go back home and work hard again to get ready for the next game," said Durakovic.

He praised his young squad, noting that integrating a large number of new players will take time as they prepare for their next match.

The victory places Sabah in fourth place in the Super League table, while Star City sit in ninth place.
