No Seats For Bersatu, Berjasa, Asli And PSM In Negeri Sembilan Polls
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- Four parties, including Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), failed to win any seats in the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election.
Besides Bersatu, Parti Barisan Jemaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia (Berjasa), Parti Orang Asli Malaysia (ASLI) and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) also failed to win the seats they contested.
Bersatu, which contested independently in 24 of the 36 state seats, not only failed to register a single victory, but also lost the Labu seat that it had won in the 2023 state election.
According to the official Election Commission (EC) results, Labu incumbent Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker lost to Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate Siti Nur Umaira Hasim in a three-cornered contest that also featured Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Datuk Ahmad Faez Abdul Razak.
Meanwhile, Berjasa's sole candidate, Zamani Ibrahim, was defeated in a four-cornered contest for the Nilai seat, while ASLI candidate Dayana Dal, the party's only female candidate, failed in her bid to win the Jeram Padang seat.
PSM candidate S. Tinagaran, better known as Cikgu Tina, also lost in a four-cornered contest for the Rahang seat.
The Independent candidates contesting the Nilai and Lukut seats, as well as two others who contested the Sri Tanjung seat, also failed to win.
In the election, PH contested all 36 seats, followed by BN (25), Bersatu (24) and Perikatan Nasional (PN) (11), while Berjasa, ASLI and PSM each fielded one candidate, alongside four Independents.
The official election results saw BN win 18 seats, followed by PH with 11 and PN with seven.
