N9 Polls: Ballot Counting Underway After Polls Close
SEREMBAN, Aug 1 (Bernama) -- Counting of early and ordinary ballots for the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election began at 6 pm today.
The counting process is being conducted by Election Commission (EC) officials at eight official vote tallying centres across the state, in the presence of candidates' representatives from all contesting parties and independent candidates.
Early voting, held on July 28, involved 22,339 eligible voters. Of the total, 16,467 cast their ballots in person, comprising 11,293 military personnel and their spouses, and 5,174 police personnel and their spouses.

Polling officially ended today after all 401 polling centres across the state closed at 6 pm.
As of 4 pm, voter turnout stood at 65.38 per cent, with 562,133 of the 859,760 registered voters having cast their ballots.
The EC had projected turnout of between 72 and 75 per cent, with preliminary results expected as early as 10 pm.
The state election features 103 candidates contesting 36 State Legislative Assembly seats, with Pakatan Harapan (PH) fielding candidates in all constituencies, followed by Barisan Nasional (BN) with 25, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) with 24, Perikatan Nasional (PN) with 11, and four Independent candidates. Barisan Jamaah Islamiah Se-Malaysia (Berjasa), Parti Orang Asli Malaysia (ASLI) and Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) are each fielding one candidate.
