Melaka Polls: PH Yet To Decide On Political Cooperation, Says Anwar

HANGZHOU, Sept 23 (Bernama) -- No decision has been made yet on the form of political cooperation for the upcoming Melaka state election, Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.
The Prime Minister said he has tasked PH Election Director Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari with holding discussions on the matter.
“I have tasked Amirudin Shari to discuss it. We should not be arrogant. If people say they are ready to discuss, then we discuss. That is how politics works.
“Some people say there is no need, and even discussing it is wrong. Whether we agree or disagree is up to the (PH Election) Committee,” the Prime Minister told Malaysian media while travelling by high-speed train to Hangzhou to continue his working visit, which entered its second day.
He was responding to questions on whether discussions had been held following the dissolution of the Melaka Legislative Assembly, which took effect today.
Anwar, who is also PKR president, confirmed that discussions had also been held with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
“We have also discussed it with Bersatu. There is no decision yet. I leave it to the committee. I am focusing on running the country,” he said.
Yesterday, the Election Commission (EC) confirmed that it had received official notification of the dissolution of the 15th Melaka Legislative Assembly and said a special meeting to discuss key dates for the state election would be announced later.
