Joint Action Underway To Secure Affordable Chicken, Egg Prices In Sabah - Armizan
KOTA KINABALU, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- The Federal and Sabah governments will enhance inter-agency coordination to ensure the supply of chicken and eggs in the state remains stable and affordable for consumers, says Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.
He said the initiative involves aligning production, distribution, price monitoring, and enforcement to address any disruptions across the supply chain comprehensively.
He noted that the matter was discussed during a coordination meeting to stabilise chicken and egg supplies in Sabah, which he chaired at the Malaysian Treasury Sabah here today.
“The meeting examined the supply and price situation of chicken and eggs in Sabah, while discussing coordinated action between the state and Federal governments.
“This includes strengthening relevant regulations and reviewing regulatory aspects of production and distribution to ensure a smooth supply chain,” he posted on his official Facebook page today.
Armizan said the coordination involves the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS), Sabah Department of Agriculture, Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), and the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), according to their respective jurisdictions and responsibilities.
He said inter-agency cooperation is vital to ensure production and supply challenges are tackled in tandem with price monitoring and enforcement.
The coordination will also serve as the foundation for a more effective mechanism to address supply and pricing issues through information sharing, clearly defined responsibilities, and effective follow-up actions, he added.
Armizan reiterated that close cooperation between the Federal and state governments will be maintained to guarantee that essential goods in Sabah remain secure and accessible at reasonable prices.
The meeting was also attended by Sabah Women, Health and People's Wellbeing Minister Datuk Julita Majungki, Sabah Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industry Minister Datuk Jamawi Jaafar, and representatives from relevant departments and agencies.
