Haze: Sabah Schools To Close If API Exceeds 150 For Three Consecutive Days
KOTA KINABALU, Oct 13 (Bernama) -- The Sabah government has ordered all schools in areas where the Air Pollutant Index (API) exceeds 150 for three consecutive days to close temporarily.
State Secretary Datuk Zainudin Aman, who is also chairman of the State Disaster Management Committee, said the measure was taken to protect pupils and teachers from the adverse health effects of haze.
“This measure is also in line with the Education Ministry’s directive following the advice of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim,” he said in a statement here today.
Zainudin said all schools in Tawau had so far been ordered to close from today due to worsening haze conditions.
