Schools In Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka And Pahang To Reopen Tomorrow
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- Educational institutions under the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Pahang will reopen tomorrow.
The SELANGOR State Education Department said school operations in the state will prioritise the safety, health and well-being of pupils and school staff.
“Pupils are encouraged to wear face masks as a precaution. Parents or guardians who are concerned about their children’s health amid the haze may choose not to send them to school.
“However, they must notify the school if their children will be absent,” it said in a statement today.
In NEGERI SEMBILAN, the state Education Department reminded schools to monitor air quality regularly, comply with the guidelines in force and take appropriate measures to safeguard pupils’ health.
“Schools must suspend all outdoor activities, including Physical Education lessons, co-curricular activities, sports, camping, celebrations, assemblies and activities in open halls, when the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading exceeds 100,” the department said.
The MELAKA State Education Department said educational institutions under MOE will resume operations tomorrow, pending official confirmation of the latest API readings.
The department urged administrators to take appropriate measures to ensure smooth operations and comply with the ministry’s directives, while immediately suspending all outdoor activities and assemblies.
“Students are encouraged to wear face masks and drink water regularly. Parents and guardians are advised to continue monitoring their children’s health and seek medical attention if they develop symptoms related to air pollution.
“Any changes to the operating instructions will be announced on the official Melaka State Education Department Facebook page,” the statement said.
Schools in Pekan, Kuantan, Rompin, Temerloh, Maran, Bera and Bentong in PAHANG will also reopen tomorrow, the State Education Department said.
Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek yesterday announced the closure of all schools in Johor, Melaka and Negeri Sembilan, as well as several districts in Selangor, Pahang, Sabah and Sarawak, today due to haze.
Meanwhile, the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Education Department said in a statement that all MOE educational institutions in Kuala Lumpur will operate as usual with face-to-face classes tomorrow, but will postpone all outdoor activities.
“Parents or guardians concerned about their children’s health can choose to keep them at home, but must inform the school.
“Those attending school are encouraged to wear face masks as a precautionary measure in view of the current haze,” the statement said.
The department advised everyone to stay alert to the latest developments and follow the authorities’ advice on the haze situation.
It said it continues to prioritise the safety, health, wellbeing and welfare of pupils and all members of the education community.
The JOHOR State Education Department said in a statement that all schools across the state will remain closed tomorrow, adding that PdPR will continue using methods suited to pupils' and teachers' needs, taking into account their capabilities and access to resources.
