Negeri Sembilan Assembly Passes RM40.35 Mil Supplementary Supply Bill
SEREMBAN, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- The Negeri Sembilan State Legislative Assembly today passed the Supplementary Supply Bill 2026 amounting to RM40.35 million to meet the state government's financial commitments and requirements for the current year.
Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim, who is also Juasseh assemblyman, said RM6.5 million of the amount was allocated for the state government's debt repayment commitments to the Federal Government, while RM5.85 million was for pension and gratuity payments following the dissolution of the state assembly on June 5.
"RM13 million has been allocated for Special Financial Assistance equivalent to two months' salary, as well as Performance-Based Special Financial Assistance for civil servants," he said when winding up debate on the Supplementary Supply Bill 2026 at the first (special) sitting of the First Session of the Negeri Sembilan State Assembly here today.
He said a further RM15 million was allocated to continue upgrading works on the state mosque, as well as maintenance of mosques, surau and Muslim burial grounds in the state.
Ismail said the state's operating expenditure for this year had risen from RM640 million to RM680.35 million, while Negeri Sembilan recorded an actual surplus of RM203.2 million in 2025, with revenue collection of RM785.2 million, or 133.1 per cent of the target.
"This position provides a good foundation for the state government to continue development and fulfil its responsibilities to the people.
"Our direction is clear. We want Negeri Sembilan to be stable in terms of administration and governance, progressive through economic development and wider opportunities, and prosperous when the benefits of development are felt by the people," he said.
Meanwhile, several issues related to the management of state government allocations were also raised by assemblymen during the sitting, with Ismail saying the matters would be discussed and refined at the State Executive Council Meeting.
He said further clarification on the issues would be given after review and discussion at the state government level.
The sitting was adjourned to a date to be announced later.
