Stability, Progress, Prosperity To Drive N. Sembilan – Ismail
SEREMBAN, Aug 14 (Bernama) -- Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim has outlined stability, progress and prosperity as the three main pillars of the new state administration to ensure effective public service delivery.
He said the pillars would guide the state administration in addressing public issues, expediting administrative processes and improving the people’s standard of living.
“We want to build a state that is stable in terms of its institutions, administration and politics, rather than merely a government that holds majority support in the State Legislative Assembly.
“More importantly, we must ensure the stability of the institutions of the Constitutional Monarchy and customs that serve as the state's umbrella, alongside implementing policies capable of instilling confidence in both the public and investors,” he said at the Negeri Sembilan State-Level Public Servants Assembly and launch of the Kibar Jalur Gemilang campaign here today.
He said progress should be measured not only by economic growth, but also by creating opportunities, attracting quality investments and ensuring balanced development so that prosperity was shared by all.
Ismail said development should not be concentrated in major towns, as rural areas, including Felda settlements, also need to progress in tandem.
He said state revenue had reached RM522.4 million to date, expressing confidence that the RM1 billion target by 2030 could be achieved.
The Juasseh assemblyman said Negeri Sembilan recorded a gross domestic product (GDP) of RM55.8 billion last year, up from RM54.3 billion the previous year, representing growth of 2.6 per cent driven by the services and manufacturing sectors.
Meanwhile, Ismail said the diverse experience, expertise and fresh energy within the newly appointed State Executive Council (Exco) would strengthen the state administration in achieving its goals.
He said cooperation between the Exco and the public service could make Negeri Sembilan more competitive in investment and business while creating more opportunities for youth and strengthening the agricultural and rural economic sectors.
“We are managing the expectations of more than 1.2 million citizens of Negeri Sembilan. Let us move forward as one team, united in determination and purpose, to build a trusted government and a respected public service,” he said.
In another development, Ismail called on government departments and agencies, local authorities, schools, business premises and state residents to fly the Jalur Gemilang in conjunction with National Day celebrations.
