"Many registered voters no longer live here. They have relocated but have yet to update their voting addresses. There are also retired military and police personnel who moved elsewhere after retirement, making them difficult to trace," he told reporters after casting his ballot at SJKC Chung Hua in Rantau today.

Mohamad was accompanied by his wife, Datin Seri Raja Salbiah Tengku Nujumudin, and their four children. 

He also urged voters to cast their ballots early in view of the forecast for afternoon rain.

"I hope all voters in the Rantau state constituency will fulfil their responsibility to vote as early as possible, as rain is expected later in the day, to help ensure the voting process proceeds smoothly," he said.

A total of 859,760 registered voters, including 7,391 postal voters, are eligible to vote in today's state election.

The Election Commission (EC) is targeting a voter turnout of between 72 and 75 per cent. Results are expected to begin coming in as early as 10 pm, with the full outcome anticipated before midnight.

Meanwhile, in Seremban, DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke expressed hope that voter turnout in the state election would surpass the 75 per cent target.

Loke, who is the PH candidate for the Chennah state seat, said a high turnout is essential to ensure that tonight's results genuinely reflect the will of the majority.

The Transport Minister added that several constituencies have recorded higher voter turnout than at the same point during the previous election, describing the trend as an encouraging sign.
