N. Sembilan Polls: Early Voting Concludes, All 38 Centres Close At 5pm
Election Commission (EC) personnel close the doors of the polling centre at 5pm after the conclusion of the early voting process for the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election (PRN) at the Negeri Sembilan Police Contingent Headquarters today.

SEREMBAN, July 28 (Bernama) -- Early voting for the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election, involving security force personnel and their spouses, concluded today after all 38 polling centres closed at 5 pm.

The centres, which opened at 8 am, were closed in staggered phases based on location and voter turnout, as determined by the Election Commission (EC). Earlier, 18 centres had closed at noon and another two at 2 pm.

As of 3 pm, the EC's latest figures showed 88.97 per cent of early voters—14,651 people—had cast their ballots, comprising 9,827 military personnel and their spouses, and 4,824 police officers and their spouses.

EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun told a press conference that the commission had targeted a 90 per cent turnout today.  

Early voting involved a total of 22,339 voters, of whom 16,467 voted in person, comprising 11,293 military personnel and their spouses, and 5,174 police officers and their spouses, while the remainder voted by post.

A total of 103 candidates are vying for 36 state seats, with general polling for 889,490 voters scheduled for this Saturday.
