Aminuddin’s Decision To Contest Linggi A Bold Move - Chang
KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun’s decision to contest the Linggi state seat in the 16th Negeri Sembilan State Election has been described as a bold move.
Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Datuk Chang Lih Kang said the move was significant as Linggi had been a Barisan Nasional (BN) stronghold since the 1970s.
“Tok Min’s (Aminuddin) decision to contest here in Linggi sends a clear message that he is not afraid of threats or political manoeuvres from his opponents. As a general, he chose to take the battle into the opponent’s stronghold while leading Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidates in the Negeri Sembilan state election.
“I am confident that Tok Min's outstanding track record in administering the state, particularly in attracting investments, driving economic growth and safeguarding the people's welfare, will convince Linggi voters of all races," he said in a Facebook post today.
Chang, who is also Tanjong Malim Member of Parliament, said PH remained committed to upholding politics based on justice, stability and unity in a multiracial society, while rejecting narrow-minded politics that played on sentiments and divided the people for the sake of power.
The Science, Technology and Innovation Minister expressed hope that Aminuddin, who is also the Negeri Sembilan PH chairman and state PKR chairman, would be given the mandate to continue driving economic growth while safeguarding the people's well-being.
Early voting for the Negeri Sembilan state election is scheduled for July 28, while polling day is set for Aug 1.
